We mourn Dr. Christopher Ogbonnaya Onu CON, HLR
(1 December 1951 – 11 April 2024)
The Hallmarks of Labour Foundation has received the shocking news of the death of one of its distinguished Role Models, His Excellency, Engr. Dr. Christopher Ogbonnaya Onu, CON, HLR. Which sad event took place today 11 April 2024. He was the First Civilian Governor of Abia State and Former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Nigeria from November 2015 until his resignation in 2022. He was the serving minister of the ministry.
This news is more unsettling as he was featured prominently in the recently-presented 11th Edition of our book series, HALLMARKS OF LABOUR and was assigned a role in our 27th Anniversary and Role Model Awards slated for this month. Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu had a worthy and fulfilling life — as a top-of-his-class Scholar, value-added Research -Academic & Public Officer of High Integrity; which records speak volumes across Nigeria and internationally. In his over 10 years relationship with the Foundation, he was consistent in his support for its Objectives, Programmes and Projects. We at the Foundation will miss him sorely, and we urge his wife, children, family and others mourning him to be rest-assured his life has earned him a place in the Bosom of Almighty God. “Rest in Peace, our Distinguished Role Model”.
