
HALLMARKS OF LABOUR 29th ANNIVERSARY AND THE GREAT NIGERIAN AWARDS 2026. A CALL FOR NOMINATION.
We are pleased to inform you that Hallmarks of Labour Foundation will mark its 29thanniversary on April 18, 2026, and the highlight of this event as always, will be the presentation of the HLF Role Model Awards to a few distinguished Nigerians who by their achievements and sacrifices have put their footprints on the sands of time.
Thus, in line with our policy to arrive at a credible decision and maintain the high moral standards HLF is identified with, we respectfully request your call for your nominations of worthy candidates for each of the categories listed here.
AWARD CATEGORIES
HLF ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE FIELD OF MEDICINE
Criteria:
- The awardee should have made a scientific contribution of internationally recognized standards which has been shown to be of important benefits to a large number of the people of the world transcending national boundary
- The awardee should have made successfully an application of a body of scientific knowledge to the benefits of a large number of the people of the world transcending national boundary.
HLF ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE
Criteria: This Award recognises men and women who have made scientific contribution and /OR, an application of a body of scientific knowledge of internationally recognised standards which has been shown to be of important benefits to the Nigerian community or a large number of the people of the World.
HLF AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND VALUE-CHAIN DEVELOPMENT TOWARDS FOOD SECURITY.
Criteria: Nominees must be persons who have excelled in one or more of the following two areas:
- Must have made a scientific breakthrough in research that has addressed a major area of Agriculture, Food-dependent Livelihood and Climate Change relevant to Food Security and Existentialism.
- Must have undertaken an Innovative Research, Invented an On-Farm Technology or unraveled a previously-unexplored Value Chain relevant to Household and National Food Security.
HLF-UMARU SHEHU LIFE-TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR CONSISTENT ADVOCACY FOR POSITIVE CHANGE WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM
Criteria: Nominees must be academics, past Vice-Chancellors who have been consistent in their advocacy for:
- Improvements in the standard and quality of learning within the University System.
- Enabling the University System to be a catalyst for National Development.
HLF- ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION
Criteria: Nominees must be academics who have distinguished themselves through notable Contributions in the Field of Education
HLF-LIFE-TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR EXEMPLARY/COURAGEOUS SERVICE TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF OUR LEGAL SYSTEM
Criteria: This award recognizes men and women with proven track records in upholding truth and justice and/or whose services in the legal profession have contributed significantly to the advancement of the Nigerian legal system — through advocacy, adjudication, writing or academics.
HLF ROLE MODEL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR LAND-MARK DECISIONS IN THE JUDICIARY
Criteria: Nominees must be Judges with notable and forthright decisions despite prevailing circumstances, and/or have established precedence in the advancement of the law and/or the legal profession.
HLF-EMEKA ANYAOKU LIFE-TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TO NIGERIA’S OUTSTANDING INTERNATIONAL ICON
Criteria: Nominees must be internationally recognized Nigerians who have held strategic positions in global institutions and have impacted greatly on Nigeria.
HLF- CHRISTOPHER KOLADE AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONALISM IN THE MEDIA
Criteria: Nominees will be men and women who have registered a verifiable track record of exemplary leadership and added eminent value in professionalism in Communication media in Nigeria
HLF-ROLE MODEL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP AND GOOD GOVERNANCE
Criteria: Nominees should be past or serving State Governors, Federal Ministers and Speakers of the three tiers of Government who have significantly conducted public affairs to enhance the well-being of the people in their areas of jurisdiction.
AWARD FOR THE GREATEST CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY IN INDUSTRIALIZATION AND EMPLOYMENT GENERATION
Criteria: Nominees should be Nigeria-based Industrialists/Organizations as well as the highest employers of labour.
HLF ROLE MODEL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
Criteria: Nominees will be men and women who have registered a verifiable track record in Entrepreneurship and corporate governance in Nigeria.
