A distinguished Scholar, Teacher & Administrator, Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede is the incumbent Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria’s Joint Admissions & Matriculations Board (JAMB). He obtained his post-secondary education at the Universities of Ibadan & Ilorin and Kwara State College of Education. He holds the Bachelor of Arts degree 1st Class in Arabic and Doctorate in Islamic Studies with specialization in Islamic Law & Jurisprudence.
Over nearly four decades, Professor Is-haq Oloyede has been building bridges in the tertiary education sector of Nigeria and internationally. From an Assistant Lecturer in 1982, he rose through the ranks to become a Professor of international repute in 1995. He successively served in the University of Ilorin, Kwara State as Director of Academic Planning, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.
Within a space of five years Prof. Is-haq Oloyede turned around the fortunes of the University of Ilorin and catapulted it to the frontline in African University ratings.
- As the Registrar of JAMB from 2016, Professor Is-haq Oloyede has enhanced the processes of admission into tertiary educational institutions in the country. His leadership has also recorded tremendous increases in the revenue generation of the Board, especially through effective blocking of loopholes that had enabled fraudsters to short-change the public treasury. In three years, that is 2016, 2017 and 2018 sessions, JAMB remitted a record amount of twenty two billion Naira to the federal government coffers. This is in sharp contrast to a maximum of five million Naira only per annum remitted by previous administrations. He also established a Virtual Private Network between the headquarters and delivery centers and this successfully enabled questions and responses to be transmitted without any security breaches. In addition the board also successfully accredited 642 Centres nationwide thereby increasing accredited centers by 132 in the year 2017.
Professor Oloyede has held quite a number of other strategic positions; and with tremendous impact. These include: Chairman of both the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities & Committee of Vice-Chancellors; President, Association of African Universities; Member, Board of the Association of Commonwealth Universities; Secretary-General, Association of West African Universities. He also serves as National Coordinator of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council and Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
The Consulting Editor of the American Biographical Institute since 2003, he has to his credit several books, contributions to journals, conference papers and lectures.
A diligent and hard-working administrator, Professor Is-haq Oloyede has received recognitions and commendations within and beyond Nigeria. He is an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), Fellow — Academy of Letters, Nigerian Institute of Management. Fellow, Islamic Academy of Cambridge-UK, and Academy of Religion.
