Hallmarks of Labour Foundation celebrated Its 25th anniversary and Role Model Awards on Saturday, December 11, 2021. It was indeed a glorious event where ten accomplished Great Nigerians were honoured and awarded for their outstanding contributions to the growth of our Nation.

In line with the HLF objectives; Positioning tomorrow’s Leaders to achieve their maximum potentials. Three schools received the HLF Young Achievers Award for emerging as the Best performing school in WASSCE. for 2018, 2019 and 2020. They are; Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja, Christ the King College, Abuja, and Total Education Development Academy, Aba respectively.

They each received a cash price of One hundred thousand Naira (N100,000) from the Foundation.

The Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, also donated a science kit to the school in support of the Foundation’s efforts and in recognition of the schools’ excellent performance in their examination, adding that such gestures will encourage the pupils to work harder. He concluded by congratulating the awardees and the Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mrs. Patricia Otuedon-Arawore for the great work they are doing in the nation.

HLF Young Achievers’ Awards For the Best-Performing School IN WASSCE, 2017–Christ the King Catholic College, Odolewu, Ijebu-ode, Ogun STATE.

In line with our main objective, to nurture confident youths positioned to lead the change for a greater Nigeria; the Foundation continues to recognize outstanding young Nigerian achievers and institutions. The purpose of this exercise is to promote excellence, hard work and healthy rivalry within our schools Nationwide. Christ the King Catholic College, Odolewu, Ijebu-ode, Ogun State, received the foundations donation of eight desktop computers complete with accessories, for emerging as Nigeria’s overall best performing school in the WASSCE 2017.

The Occasion was the presentation of Science Kits by the Honourable Minister for Science &Technology Chief Ogbonnaya Onu to Christ the King College Odolewu, Ijebu-ode -the Recipient of the  Hallmarks of Labour Foundation Award as the Best performing School in WASSCE 2017. This event took place at the Catholic Chapel of Transfiguration VGC Lekki- EpeExpressway on Thursday 31st January 2019.

The Executive Secretary of Hallmarks of Labour Foundation –Mrs Patricia Otuedon Arawore gave the welcome speech where she urged the students to aim for excellence which is achievable as demonstrated by the HLF Role Models –Eminent Nigerians who achieved success by dint of hard work .She donated copies of The Hallmarks of Labour Foundation Series 1-9  for theSchool Library.

The Principal of the Christ the King College Odolewu Ijebu-Ode, Rev Fr.Ona Bamiro said the Opening prayer.

Dr Sam Etatuvie who led the team of representatives from the Honourable Minister for Science & Technology in his speech said that the Minister encourages the young ones to take Science and Technology subjects because their lies the hope for a better Nigeria. He further said that  technology drives the world Economy and the Minister is well pleased with their achievement as the Best Performing School in WASSCE 2017  shown by the high powered delegates he sent to represent him at the Presentation of the Science Kit he donated to the School. He urged the Students to keep the flag flying as there is always a Reward for Excellence.

The Principal of the School in his vote of thanks expressed his gratitude to the Honourable of Science & Technology and his team for the Donation of Complete Science Kits for their Science Laboratories which he said will further assist the students in their studies. He also challenged the present set of students to win the Best performing school in the WASSCE Award as they have what it takes to repeat the feat.

The Head Boy of the School also thanked the Minister, The Minister’s Representatives and the Management of Hallmarks of Labour Foundation for the Donation.

On that note amidst cheers and happiness, the Occasion ended.

The Hallmarks of Labour Foundation Young Achievers Awards and 18th Anniversary held on Monday 15, December, 2014 at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs with the Chief Host and member of the board of trustees, Professor Alele Williams setting the tone for the epoch event with the welcome address.

The chairman of occasion, Prof. Oyewole Tomori in his opening address extolled the many interventions of the Hallmarks of Labour Foundation in ensuring that the less privileged also get opportunity to quality education.

Shortly afterward, Her Excellency, Pirjo Suomela Chowdhury, Ambassador of Finland delivered a keynote address shedding light on the finnish education system and what Nigeria can learn from it.

Setting the tone for the Awards, was The International School, Olabisi Onabanjo University recognized for their outstanding performance in the 2013 WASSCE while Mr Ogunfolaji Oloruntoba was recognised for being the best student in WASSCE in year 2013

Founder of LEAP Africa Mrs Ndidi Nwuneli, MFR gave a motivational address encouraging the student to be all they can be by having the right attitude as well aw reaching for excellence however challenging the environment is assuring them success is often the result of hard work

A panel discussion moderated by a foremost legal luminary Chief Tony Idigbe SAN comprising of past recipient of the HLF Young Achievers awards, a parent of one of this year’s recipient as well as representative of the Commissioner for Education n Lagos State.

The High point of the Awards ceremony was the recognition of Nigeria’s youngest Ph.D holder, Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara by Hallmarks of Labour as a young achiever.

The Special Guest of Honour, our amiable Firstlady of Lagos, Dame Abimbola Fashola gave the students present at the event a once in a life time opportunity to ask her any question to which she gladly obliged and responded.
The students were eager to learn and benefit from the first lady’s wealth of experience.

The Executive Secretary, Mrs Patricia Otuedon-Arawore gave the vote of thanks, appreciating all the dignitaries and student present.

The HLF Young Achievers Awards 2012 was a resounding success. People from all walks of life came to witness and participate in this epoch making event held on Wednesday October 17, 2012. Indeed the main  Auditorium of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island Lagos was full to its capacity. It was truly a glorious event.

A comment from one of our guests at the event captures it all: “it was an excellent event! I enjoyed every bit of it and walked away challenged to do more with my God-given talents. Yes, things aren’t well with Nigeria (today) but this is another confirmation that Nigeria will be well again. the accomplishments of the very young PhD holders are mind blowing and discussions by the panel/all was worthwhile and inspiring” he concluded.

The event started with the first set of awards made to the two youngest Ph.d reciepients in Nigeria. Dr. Temitope Adeyemi, now a lecturer at the University of Lagos, who received her plaque from Rtd. Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson, First Governor of Lagos State and Dr. Opeyemi Sodipe, who received her plaque from Professor Grace Alele Williams, first Female Vice Chancellor sub-Saharan Africa.

A speech presentation by H.E. Dame Abimbola Fashola, the First Lady of Lagos State set the tone for a very lively discussion session anchored by the former Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Dr.  Tony Iredia on the theme of the day: POSITIONING TOMORROW’S LEADERS TO ACHIEVE THEIR MAXIMUM POTENTIALS. The discussants included Professor Sophie Oluwole, Professor of Philosophy and National President of the Nigerian Philosophical Society, Chief Anthony Idigbe, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Pat Uka Akumabor, Principal Lecturer, Department of Educational Foundation, School of Technology, and Mr. Michael Olowu, former President, Student Union Government, Yaba College of Technology, who represented the voice of the youths.

Other high points of the occasion included more award presentations made to Nigeria’s Best School in WASSCE 2011 presented by Emeritus Professor O.O. Akinkugbe to Lumen Christi International High School, Uromi, Edo State, an all boys institution founded in 1986 by the Catholic Arch diocese of Uromi and has maintained 100% success in WASSCE in the past 20 years. Air force Comprehensive School, Agbani, Enugu State was handed the award for Best Public School in WASSCE, 2011 by Mrs. Francesca Emanuel, Poet and  First Female Federal Permanent Secretary in Nigeria and Barrister Olusegun Odubela, Honorable Commissioner of Education, Ogun state. Both schools were also rewarded with science laboratory equipment and desktop computers.

Miss Christianah Adeloye, Nigeria’s Best Student in WASSCE 2011, received her plaque from by H. E. Rauf Aregbesola, the Executive Governor of Osun State represented by H. E. Otunba Titilayo Laoye – Tomori, the Deputy Governor of Osun State. The announcement of the award of full scholarship to Miss Adeloye by the government of Osun state was greeted with a resounding ovation.

The next award to One of Africa’s Youngest Exhibiting Artists, eight year old, Onarietta Isabella Remet, was presented by Izoma Phillip Asiodu, Former Federal Minister for Petroleum and Mineral Resources who also chaired the Occasion.

Finally the Presentation of awards to the London Based Twins Peter and Paula Imafidon, who made academic history when they became the Youngest Successful Candidates: University of Cambridge Advanced Mathematics Examination at the age of nine was made by H. E. Dame Abimbola Fashola, First Lady of Lagos State and received on their behalf by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Omolara Erogbogbo.

Also presented at the occasion were twenty students from the six districts of Lagos State who will now become beneficiaries of Hallmarks of Labour Foundation Scholarship Scheme starting from now, 2012/ 2013 academic session.
